Authentication Instructions
Milford Cable & Internet Email Customers:
To
improve e-mail performance,
Milford Cable will be
upgrading to an authenticated
e-mail protocol. If you
are a user of Milford
Cable's mail system and you
are unable to send
messages, follow the
instructions below to make
your mail compatible with
our new mail system.
This page deals with MS Outlook Express.
For other mail programs please see below.****
Please note: All mouse functions will use the left mouse button only.
Picture colors will vary.
1. Open Outlook Express 
(Some of you may do this by clicking on the MAIL icon in Internet Explorer.
Either way is fine.)
2. Across the top, Click TOOLS

3. Under TOOLS, click ACCOUNTS

4. Click the MAIL tab, as shown below and highlight any account by clicking on it one time. Please note: each listed account will have to be reconfigured - one at a time.

5. Next, click the button on the right side. A properties box should now be in front of you, a picture of this box is shown below. Your box may look different until you complete step 6.
6. Across the top, click on the SERVERS tab.

7. Near the bottom of the page, you must now insert a checkmark in the small square as it is shown here:

You can do this by placing the
cursor (arrow) in the small square and clicking one time.
8. You are almost done. Please click on the button.
9. You will now be looking at the box shown below. If a dot is not already present in the circle next to Use same settings as my incoming mail server, please put one there. This can be done by placing the
cursor (arrow) in the small circle and clicking one time. Change nothing else.

10. Click the button (one time)and the box will disappear.
11. Click the button (one time) on the next box, and it will disappear.
12. Click the button (one time) on the next box, and it will disappear. Now you should be back to your mail program, simply close it by clicking the (your X may be a different color) in the top, right, corner.
Congratulations, you can now begin using authenticated e-mail. Continue to do your email as you have in the past and our servers will do the rest.
**** If you use a mail program other than MS Outlook Express, please advise us by sending an email to support@milfordcable.net.
You must include your E-mail program name and version, your name, and phone number.
We will respond with additional instructions.
